Tithe as an Act of Obedience
Tithing is an act of obedience to God. It is an expression of the heart, that we trust in God with our finances even if the numbers don’t add up. We give God our first-fruits that we should have set aside to give. Our financial stance is not in consideration when we are focused on the fact that God has proven faithful time and time again when we put our trust in Him.
Matthew 6:25-26 “Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink; nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing? Look at the birds of the air, for they neither sow nor reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they?”
Tithing by definition is “A tenth, a portion set aside to give back to God". Proverbs 3:9-10 shows that tithing is how this is an act of obedience, “Honor the Lord with your wealth, with the firstfruits of all your crops. and then your barns will be filled to overflowing, and your vats will brim over with new wine.” God is the provider of everything and will supply all our needs. So what is holding us back from honoring God with our money, time and resources?
Psalms 24:1- “The earth is the Lord’s, and everything in it, the world, and all who live in it.”
Phillipians 4:19- “And my God will meet all your needs according to His glorious riches in Christ Jesus.”
Thank you for your heart and devotion in giving your first-fruits to God today. May God Bless you!
